ICEF's objective
1.1 Introduction to environment:
Environment is the mixture of all living and non-living things around us. It is also an integral condition for the existence of life. Environment is divided into two main parts:-
1. Biological Components
The biological components of the environment include the living beings like plants, animals and microbes. We, human are also the part of the biological component. Each of the biological components plays an important role in the environment. The biological components can be divided as follows:-
(a) Human Beings: This component includes children, women and men of all races, religions and countries of earth.
(b) Plants: This component includes all the plants. They are the most necessary components of the environment.
(c) Animals: This component includes all the other animals besides human beings. The animals serve as the important sources of energy, economic activities as well as help to maintain ecological balance.
(d) Microbes: These are tiny organisms which are invisible to the naked eyes. They also play an important role in recycling materials between the biological and the physical components.
2. The Socio-economic Components
These are the human activities which also become an important component of our surroundings which affect our lives. Human beings are social creatures: they live in societies, interact with each other and participate in social, religious and cultural activities. These provide human beings with an identity. Some details of the socio-economic components are:
(a) The Cultural Component: This includes the various aspects of our culture including languages, costumes, traditions, folk music, songs and dances. These activities are part of our culture.
(b)The Religious Component: This includes our religious places and religious practices in which we participate as per our own religious traditions.
(c)The Economic Component: This includes all the activities which we perform to generate income for ourselves, like business activities, trade, services, etc.
1.2 Effects of human activities on it.
There are various human activities which are harming to the environment. In the current world most of the products are made up of chemicals and other harmful products which harm the environment. Some human activities harming the environment are below:
(a) Deforestation: Shelter, cultivation of food etc are the basic needs of the humans. When they have to build shelter they clear the forest for woods needed for the building of their home. And for the land needed for cultivation also they do the same. Due to the clearance of forest human beings become the victim of various natural calamities and they even have to lose their shelter.
(b) Unplanned settlement: Most of the human beings surviving in the world want to make their comfortable using many facilities. So, the people living in the rural areas settle to urban areas. Due to lack of spaces they built houses as their wish and the society will be packed with many houses.
(c) Improper Displacement of wastages: As it is universal truth that through every product produce wastage. But people most place it properly which they aren’t doing. People throw the waste products near rivers or other places due to which pollution causes.
Every human activities being carried out for his/her pleasure has indignantly proved out to be the displeasure of the Mother Nature. For his/her sanitation, he/she is polluting the Mother Nature. This love of man for pleasure has destructed and deserted every happiness and beauty of the Mother Nature. Every human activity is affecting the environment to the greatest extent even though it stands out to be the smallest one. So, there is need of concise acting for the conservation of environment. The pleasure of sometime can prove out to be fatal for longtime. It can even prove out to be the destructor of human race from the earth.
1.5 Importance of environment
Environment is important to every living being. We humans get all of our basic needs like wood, grass, food, water etc from the environment. So, environment is necessary for us. We get other important natural resources like petrol, coal, minerals etc also from the environment we are surviving.
1.4 Measures being taken for its conservation
There are many environmental problems in our surrounding but as we know where there are problems there are solutions, various large and small organizations have been working for the conservation of environment. Some measures adopted for environment conservation are:
(a) Awareness: We know that most of the environmental problems are caused due to lack of awareness. Various large and small organizations have been working for solving environment related problems.
(b) Recycling: Most of the products like plastic etc are made from the use of chemical which are harmful to the environment. Recycling is the best way to stop the degradation of the environment.
(c) Forestation: There is a great saying existing in our society “Iron cuts iron”. So forestation is the best way to solve the problems or calamities occurring from deforestation.
CHAPTER 2
SUSTAINABLE CONSERVATION OF ENVIRONMENT
In the present context of the world, sustainable conservation of environment is the rising issue and people have been enforcing different programs for the conservation of environment. In this scenario, I think that ICEF, International Children’s Environment Forum can do much for solving this issue that is as regards a serious problem. The cooperation of children for environment conservation is the main aim of this forum. It will be working at its level best for implementing actions for environment conservation that has been tried and long talked by many organizations but have stood out to be fail in doing so. The forum will be working from grass root level. As per the saying of William Wordsworth i.e. “The child is the father of man,” we are assured that the cooperation of children globally would bring a drastic and an unprecedented improvement in the conservation of environment. It is well known that morning shows the day. As regards to this fact, if children are taught to conserve the environment in a friendly environment, they would ultimately choose for environment conservation and work for its protection. Children usually throw wrappers and other waste materials here and there but if they are taught about reutilizing the wastes, the rate of environmental pollution would change dramatically. The motivation of children for the protection of environment is of utmost necessity so; this can only be done by constituting an international environment forum of children. Lastly, I would like to propose for the establishment of ICEF, International Children’s Environment Forum under the United Nations. It is a proposal of our small club CEC, Children’s Environment Club that has been functioning for motivating children in environment conservation in its motherland and plans to extend the action globally through the formation of ICEF if we would get cooperated from the UN and UNEP TUNZA participants.
